Morocco has reportedly set its sights on securing the international future of Real Madrid’s rising star, Sergio Arribas, following his surprising omission from the Spanish national team setup.
The 22-year-old attacking midfielder, a prolific scorer for Real Madrid’s Castilla side and now shining at Almería, was a notable absentee from new Spain coach Luis de la Fuente’s first squad selection in March 2025. This decision, revealed in a recent interview, appears to have opened the door for the Royal Moroccan Football Federation (FRMF).
According to sources, Moroccan officials have now initiated contact with the player. Arribas, who holds dual nationality through his Moroccan mother, has previously represented Spain at various youth levels but remains eligible to switch his allegiance to the Atlas Lions.
The FRMF’s pursuit is seen as a direct attempt to capitalize on what they perceive as a misstep by the Spanish football federation. Arribas’s consistent performances have made him a prime target for Morocco, who are keen to integrate young talent into their squad.
