Moroccan talent Bouaddi dreams of France call-up

Moroccan football authorities are actively pursuing young talent Ayyoub Bouaddi, but the 16-year-old midfielder’s personal dream is to one day represent France, inspired by the legendary Zinedine Zidane.

Bouaddi, who plays for LOSC Lille, is considered one of Europe’s most promising prospects. The Royal Moroccan Football Federation (FRMF) has already made significant efforts to secure his international future, including inviting him to a training camp in September 2023. However, the player has not yet made a definitive decision regarding his national team allegiance.

In a revealing interview, Bouaddi expressed his deep admiration for France and specifically for Zidane. “My dream is to play for the French national team. It’s a dream I’ve had since I was little,” he stated. “I grew up watching the great French players, especially Zizou. He is my idol. Playing for France, that is the ultimate goal for me.”

Despite this clear personal ambition, the Moroccan federation has not given up. They view Bouaddi as a crucial part of their long-term project, especially looking ahead to the 2026 FIFA World Cup. The FRMF’s strategy involves integrating dual-nationality talents early, as seen with other players like Eliesse Ben Seghir.

The competition for Bouaddi’s services is a direct reflection of his rapid development at Lille. His current focus remains on his club career, but the looming decision between the two nations adds a compelling narrative to his rise. For now, the talented teenager holds onto his French dream, while Morocco continues its patient pursuit.
