Carlo Ancelotti is now just one step away from being officially announced as the new head coach of the Brazilian national team. According to widespread reports, the Italian manager is set to sign his new contract with the Brazilian Football Confederation (CBF) imminently.
The final details of the agreement are being finalized, with an official announcement expected very soon. Ancelotti, who currently manages Real Madrid, has agreed in principle to take over the Seleção following the conclusion of the 2023-2024 European club season.
His contract with the CBF is set to begin in the summer of 2024 and will run until after the 2026 FIFA World Cup, which will be jointly hosted by the United States, Canada, and Mexico. The experienced coach is poised to lead Brazil’s quest for a record-extending sixth world title.
The CBF has been clear in its pursuit, having publicly named Ancelotti as their primary target earlier this year. President Ednaldo Rodrigues confirmed the federation’s intention, stating they would wait for the coach’s commitment. That patience now appears to have paid off.
Until Ancelotti’s arrival, the Brazilian national team will continue under the interim guidance of Fernando Diniz, who is also the head coach of Fluminense. Diniz will steer the team through the ongoing 2026 World Cup qualifiers, ensuring a seamless transition when the Italian maestro takes the helm next year.
