Moroccan Belmrah Wins African Waterski Title

Moroccan waterskier Ayoub Belmrah has been crowned the new African champion. The 21-year-old secured the continental title in the Under-21 category at the African Championships held in Botswana.

The competition took place from October 24 to 26, 2024. Belmrah faced off against a field of skiers from across the continent and emerged victorious, adding a major accolade to his growing career.

This victory follows a significant milestone for Belmrah earlier in the year. As revealed in a prior report, he became the first Moroccan and Arab athlete to qualify for the Waterski World Championships, which are scheduled for 2026. His qualification was secured based on his international ranking and performance.

Belmrah’s win in Botswana marks a decisive step in his preparations for the global stage. The young champion is now firmly focused on representing Morocco at the 2026 World Championships, carrying the hopes of a nation on his shoulders.
