Former Juventus midfielder Sami Khedira has expressed his delight with the club’s latest acquisition, stating the team is focused on its own path despite the recent setback suffered by rivals AC Milan.
In an exclusive interview, Khedira commented on the signing of midfielder Douglas Luiz from Aston Villa, a deal officially confirmed by Juventus on June 30, 2024. “We are very happy with Juventus’ new signing,” Khedira said. “He is a strong player who will add significant quality to the midfield.”
The German World Cup winner, who played for Juventus between 2015 and 2021, emphasized that the Bianconeri’s strategy is internally driven. He downplayed the importance of AC Milan’s failure to secure a deal for Portuguese striker Álvaro Jota, whose move to the Rossoneri collapsed last week. “What happens at Milan does not concern us,” Khedira stated firmly. “We are only focused on our own project and our own objectives.”
Khedira believes the arrival of Douglas Luiz is a clear statement of intent from the Turin giants as they prepare for the upcoming season and their return to the UEFA Champions League. The Brazilian international, who joins on a five-year contract, is seen as a key piece in manager Thiago Motta’s plans for the 2024/2025 campaign.
