Former Nigerian international Sunday Oliseh has taken a swipe at Real Madrid following their dramatic UEFA Champions League final victory over Borussia Dortmund at Wembley.
Oliseh, who played for Dortmund between 2000 and 2004, posted a video on his official social media account reacting to the 2-0 win for the Spanish giants. The 1994 AFCON winner was seen laughing heartily while watching the match, specifically during the moments Madrid secured their 15th European crown.
“Watching the Champions League final and seeing my former team, Borussia Dortmund, lose to Real Madrid,” Oliseh wrote in the caption accompanying the video. His clear amusement at the result has been interpreted by many as a mockery of Los Blancos’ performance, despite their ultimate triumph.
The final itself was a tale of two halves. Dortmund created the better chances for much of the game, with Karim Adeyemi and Niclas Füllkrug both coming close, the latter hitting the post. Madrid, however, weathered the storm and found their decisive goals late on. Dani Carvajal broke the deadlock with a powerful header in the 74th minute, before Vinicius Junior sealed the win nine minutes later.
This latest success extends Real Madrid’s incredible record in the competition, making them the first club to reach 15 titles. For Dortmund, it was a painful repeat of their 2013 final defeat at the same venue.
Oliseh’s playful dig adds a layer of post-match intrigue, highlighting the enduring passions and rivalries that the Champions League final always inspires.
