Egypt’s expected starting XI for the friendly against Benin has produced a surprise, with Mostafa Shobeir tipped to start in goal ahead of usual first-choice Mohamed El Shenawy.

The match is set to be played on Tuesday as part of Egypt’s preparations, and comes after the team’s recent friendly against DR Congo.

According to the expected lineup, Egypt are likely to begin with Mostafa Shobeir in goal, with a back four of Mohamed Hany, Ahmed Ramy Rabia, Hossam Abdel Meguid and Ahmed Nabil “Koka”.

In midfield, the projected trio includes Hamdy Fathy, Marwan Attia and Mohamed Shehata, while the front line is expected to feature Mostafa Fathi, Omar Marmoush and Osama Faisal.

The revealed detail in the expected team is the possible inclusion of Shobeir from the start, a notable change in a position that Egypt usually handle with great stability.
