Claude Le Roy supports dragi’s view on Algeria and Congo clash

Former DR Congo coach Claude Le Roy has backed Madjid Bougherra’s stance on the controversial CAF decision surrounding the Algeria-DR Congo match, saying the case exposed clear contradictions in the Confederation of African Football’s approach.

Le Roy pointed to the confusion created by CAF’s different rulings on similar incidents, stressing that the Algeria and Congo clash became a fresh example of how standards can change from one file to another.

The veteran French coach echoed the view expressed by Bougherra, who had questioned the logic behind the handling of the incident and the messages sent to teams about discipline and match control.

Le Roy said the debates that followed the Algeria-DR Congo encounter only grew because of the lack of consistency, adding that CAF needs clearer criteria so clubs and national teams understand what is allowed and what is punishable.

He also underlined that decisions must be applied in the same way for everyone, warning that any uncertainty will keep feeding disputes and tension around major African competitions.
