Real Madrid are set to step up their pursuit of Borussia Dortmund defender Nico Schlotterbeck as they look to strengthen their back line.
Schlotterbeck has emerged as Madrid’s top target in central defence, with the club now prepared to push harder for the Germany international as plans for the next window take shape.
The move comes with Dayot Upamecano, another name previously linked with Madrid, now closing in on a contract extension at Bayern Munich. With the France international expected to stay in Bavaria, Madrid’s focus has shifted more firmly towards Schlotterbeck.
Schlotterbeck remains a key figure for Dortmund and any deal would require serious negotiation, but Madrid’s interest is clear as they look for a long-term option at the heart of defence.
For now, there is no confirmed agreement in place, but Madrid’s intention is to intensify their efforts for Schlotterbeck as Upamecano’s situation at Bayern moves towards a renewal.
