Jobe Bellingham has been named Borussia Dortmund’s “training champion” as he looks to put a difficult spell at the club behind him and kick-start his season.
The 18-year-old, who is the younger brother of former BVB star Jude Bellingham, has struggled to make the impact he wanted since arriving in Dortmund. But within the club he has now been recognised for his work away from matchdays, with BVB awarding him the internal “training champion” label for his performances on the training pitch.
The recognition is understood to reflect his consistency, attitude and output in sessions, with Dortmund highlighting him as a standout in training despite a frustrating period in terms of minutes and momentum.
Bellingham’s aim is now to turn that work into results in competitive games and help Dortmund as the season continues, as he tries to move on from what has been a nightmare spell so far.
