Egypt have confirmed the status of Mahmoud Hassan “Trezeguet” ahead of their Africa Cup of Nations last-16 clash against Ivory Coast.
The Egyptian Football Association revealed that Trezeguet has recovered from the muscle issue he picked up in the group stage and is now ready to take part in the knockout match.
Egypt face hosts Ivory Coast on Wednesday as they bid to continue their AFCON campaign, with the winger’s fitness providing a boost for head coach Rui Vitória at a key moment in the tournament.
The update comes after Trezeguet had been under close medical follow-up following the setback, but the federation’s announcement made it clear the player is available for selection for the meeting with the Elephants.
