Morocco kept their Africa Cup of Nations dream alive by booking a semi-final place with a convincing win over five-time champions on Saturday.
The Atlas Lions were sharp from the first whistle and carried their good form into the knockout rounds, controlling long spells and taking their chances when it mattered to move within one step of the final.
The result ensured Morocco stayed on course for a first AFCON title since 1976, with their supporters left dreaming again after a performance that underlined why they have been tipped as serious contenders throughout the tournament.
Elsewhere, Bryan Mbeumo’s Cameroon struggled again, with the Brentford forward unable to inspire the Indomitable Lions as they failed to make the impact expected of a side with such a proud AFCON history.
Cameroon’s difficulties continued to draw attention after they were beaten by South Africa, a setback that has left the former champions searching for answers as the competition moves into its decisive phase.
Morocco, however, are the ones still standing. Their win over the decorated opponents delivered the semi-final ticket they wanted and kept alive the belief that this could finally be their year.
