Rob McElhenney praised Wrexham’s players after their “incredible” FA Cup win over Premier League side Nottingham Forest, admitting he was left in awe by what he had witnessed at the Racecourse Ground.
The Red Dragons delivered one of the standout results of the weekend as they overcame Forest 2-0 to earn a place in the fourth round. Wrexham set the tone early and were rewarded in the first half when Paul Mullin broke the deadlock, sending the home crowd into celebration.
Forest tried to respond after the break, but Wrexham stayed organised and kept their intensity high. The hosts then made the result safe when Sam Dalby added a second goal, sealing a famous cup triumph and extending the club’s memorable run under their Hollywood owners.
McElhenney, watching on, could not hide his pride afterwards as he reflected on what the performance meant for the club and its supporters, describing the achievement as “incredible”. He hailed the commitment of Phil Parkinson’s side and the way they rose to the occasion against top-flight opposition.
The victory means Wrexham will be in the hat for the next round, with belief and momentum only growing as they continue their push in the league while writing another chapter in their ongoing FA Cup story.
