Tottenham have rejected a loan approach from Roma for defender Radu Dragusin, leaving the Serie A side frustrated in their pursuit of the Premier League centre-back.
Roma made the move in an effort to bring Dragusin back to Italy, but Spurs have decided against allowing the Romania international to leave on a temporary deal.
The refusal is a blow for Roma, who had identified Dragusin as a key option as they look to strengthen their defensive line. The 22-year-old only joined Tottenham earlier this year and remains part of Ange Postecoglou’s plans.
Dragusin arrived in north London from Genoa and has been competing for minutes in Spurs’ back line, with the club not prepared to weaken their defensive depth midway through the season.
Roma will now have to consider alternatives after Tottenham made it clear they are not open to a loan exit for the defender.
