Nigeria coach says Morocco test bigger than Algeria

Nigeria's coach discusses tactics with a player in vibrant green kit during a tense match, with another player observing in the background.

Nigeria head coach Eric Chelle has said his focus goes beyond keeping track of Morocco’s star names, insisting the upcoming friendly against the Atlas Lions will be a tougher challenge than the recent meeting with Algeria.

Speaking ahead of the match, Chelle was asked about Morocco winger Brahim Diaz, but he stressed that his interest is not limited to one player and that his attention is on Morocco as a complete team.

“My interest is bigger than Diaz,” Chelle said, underlining that preparing for Morocco requires a wider approach because of the overall quality in Walid Regragui’s squad.

He also compared the two North African opponents, explaining that the Morocco game represents a higher-level test for his side than the Algeria match.

“The Morocco test is bigger than Algeria,” Chelle added, making it clear he expects a demanding evening for Nigeria and sees the fixture as an important measure of his team’s progress.
