FIFA has received a record 500 million ticket requests for the 2026 World Cup, underlining huge global demand for the expanded tournament in the United States, Canada and Mexico.
The figure was revealed as FIFA continues planning for the first 48-team World Cup, which will feature 104 matches across the three host countries.
FIFA has yet to confirm exact ticket release dates for the general public, but the scale of interest already points to intense competition for seats once sales begin.
The 2026 event will be the first men’s World Cup staged across three nations and the first to run with a 48-team format, increasing the number of games and, in turn, the number of tickets available compared to previous tournaments.
With the hosts preparing to welcome supporters from around the world, FIFA’s ticketing process is expected to follow a phased approach, with further details to be announced in due course.
