Nigeria head coach José Peseiro has promised a tough test for Egypt when the two sides meet in the round of 16 at the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations in Ivory Coast, insisting his team will play to win and not simply to avoid mistakes.

Speaking ahead of the tie, Peseiro said Nigeria will approach the match with confidence and strong ambition, stressing that facing Egypt is always special, but not something his players should fear.

The coach also made it clear he will not offer any advice to Morocco boss Walid Regragui in his own last-16 showdown, saying each coach must focus on his own work and prepare his team in the way he sees best.

Nigeria and Egypt are set to renew their rivalry in a knockout match that carries major weight for both teams, with a place in the quarter-finals on the line.
