Amr Adeeb slams Hassan twins over Morocco remarks

Key figures in Moroccan football are depicted: two coaches flanking a central figure in a suit, against a red background with Moroccan motifs.

Egyptian TV host Amr Adeeb launched a fierce on-air attack on the Hassan twins, Ibrahim Hassan and Hossam Hassan, after comments that were widely seen as an insult to Morocco and as casting doubt on the country’s successful hosting of the Africa Cup of Nations.

In a fiery segment, Adeeb rejected the remarks attributed to the duo and said Morocco deserves respect for what it has delivered in terms of organisation and infrastructure, stressing that the success of such tournaments is clear for everyone to see.

He criticised the tone of the comments and warned against dragging football into unnecessary disputes, insisting that rivalry on the pitch should not turn into disrespect toward countries or their people.

Adeeb also stressed that Morocco’s record in staging major events speaks for itself, and that questioning it in this way only fuels tension without any benefit to the game.

The segment quickly drew attention on social media, with many users debating Adeeb’s response and the original statements, as the controversy continued to spread online.
