AFCON final tickets have turned into a craze, with prices in the black market reaching the equivalent of a full month’s salary for many fans, just for a short moment of support in the stands.
Videos circulating on social media showed large crowds gathered around ticket sellers, as demand rose sharply ahead of the Africa Cup of Nations final.
Fans in the clips could be heard arguing over availability and prices, while others complained that official tickets were no longer within reach, pushing many towards resellers.
The scenes reflected the huge interest in the final and the pressure on the limited number of seats, as supporters looked for any chance to attend, even at inflated prices.
It was revealed that some tickets were being offered for sums close to what an average worker earns in a month, highlighting how far the ticket market has spiralled ahead of the showpiece match.
