Van Dijk tells Liverpool fans he does not like boos

Virgil van Dijk has told Liverpool supporters he “doesn’t like boos” after some fans jeered the team off following their 1-1 draw with Burnley at Anfield.

The Reds dropped points in the Premier League clash, with Burnley holding on for a share of the spoils. After the final whistle, there were boos from sections of the crowd aimed at Liverpool’s performance.

Speaking about the reaction, Van Dijk made it clear he was not a fan of hearing jeers aimed at the team. “I don’t like boos,” the Liverpool captain said.

Van Dijk also stressed that the players and supporters are in it together and that backing from the stands matters, especially in tight games where results can swing on fine margins.

The defender’s comments came as Liverpool continue to battle through a demanding period of the season, with the pressure on at the top end of the table and every point carrying extra weight.
