Manchester United and Tottenham have been given a clear early warning over the cost of signing Rennes winger Désiré Doué this summer.

The 19-year-old has quickly become one of the most watched young attackers in France, with his close control, speed and ability to play across the frontline drawing attention from several major European clubs. United and Spurs are among those who have been tracking his progress, as both sides look to add more creativity and depth in wide areas ahead of next season.

However, any deal is expected to be expensive. Rennes are understood to value Doué at around €100 million, a figure designed to reflect both his potential and the growing demand for elite young talent. The Ligue 1 club are under no pressure to sell and are prepared to hold firm unless an offer arrives that matches their asking price.

Doué is considered one of the key pieces in Rennes’ project and the club would prefer to build around him rather than cash in. His contract situation also strengthens their position in talks, leaving interested clubs with little leverage if they decide to push for a move.

Tottenham have made a habit of investing in younger players with high ceilings and could view Doué as a long-term option who can develop into a top Premier League performer. United, meanwhile, are expected to be active in the market again as they continue reshaping the squad, with additional wide options and more unpredictability in attack high on the list.

Still, a €100 million outlay would be a major commitment for either club and could force them to weigh up alternatives. Rennes’ message is simple: if United or Spurs want Doué, they will have to pay a premium to get him.
