Scott McTominay has sent an emotional message to his former Manchester United team-mates after enjoying a strong run of form since leaving Old Trafford.
The Scotland midfielder has been making a big impact at Napoli following his move from United in the summer, quickly becoming a key figure under Antonio Conte.
McTominay has now spoken about the backing he has received from people at his old club, revealing that a number of former United team-mates have been in touch to congratulate him on how things have gone.
“I’ve had a lot of messages from my old team-mates, saying ‘well done’, ‘keep going’, ‘long may it continue’,” McTominay said.
He also had special praise for Michael Carrick, hailing the former United midfielder as a “great guy” for the role he played during McTominay’s development.
McTominay came through the academy at United and went on to establish himself in the first-team set-up, making more than 250 appearances for the club before moving to Italy.
Now settling into life in Serie A, he is determined to keep building on his start in Naples while staying grateful for the support he still receives from friends and staff back in Manchester.
