Mikel Arteta has played down concerns over Bukaya Saka after the Arsenal winger was a late absentee from the Gunners’ win over Leeds, having picked up a knock in the warm-up.
Saka was expected to start, but Arsenal were forced into a change shortly before kick-off when the England international felt a problem. He did not take part in the match as Arteta reshuffled his side for the Premier League fixture.
Arsenal still got the job done against Leeds, securing the victory without one of their key attackers. The result maintained their momentum, even as the winger was watched closely from the sidelines.
Speaking after the game, Arteta provided an update on Saka’s condition and insisted the issue does not appear serious. “He felt something in the warm-up,” the Arsenal boss said, adding that it was a precaution to withdraw him.
Arteta also confirmed the decision to leave Saka out was taken to avoid any unnecessary risk, with the club set to assess him again ahead of their next match.
