Inter Miami made it two wins from two in preseason with a 2-1 victory over Atlético Nacional on Saturday night, with Luis Suárez on the scoresheet and Lionel Messi again involved in the key moments.
Miami started on the front foot and struck first in the 18th minute. Messi slipped a smart pass into space for Suárez, who finished calmly to put the MLS side ahead.
Atlético Nacional responded before the break and drew level in the 43rd minute through Sebastián Guzmán, who took his chance to make it 1-1 at half-time.
Tata Martino’s team regained control after the interval and found a winner in the 60th minute. Messi delivered the decisive ball from a set piece and David Ruiz met it with a header, sending Inter Miami back in front.
There was also a first look at new signing Germán Berterame, who made his debut for Inter Miami as the match progressed.
Miami saw out the closing stages to secure the 2-1 result, continuing an unbeaten start to their preparations as Martino works through his squad and minutes build for Messi and Suárez ahead of the new season.
