Bruno Fernandes’ name has again been linked with Real Madrid, but the Manchester United captain has seen the latest transfer talk dismissed as “completely fake”.

Reports had suggested the Portugal midfielder could be tempted by a move to Spain, with Madrid said to be monitoring his situation at Old Trafford. Those claims quickly gathered pace online as United continue to rebuild and Fernandes remains their key figure in midfield.

However, the story has been shut down, with the suggestion of a transfer to the Santiago Bernabeu described in clear terms as false.

Fernandes has been one of United’s most important players since arriving from Sporting CP in 2020, and he was handed the captain’s armband as his influence grew inside the squad. Despite ongoing scrutiny over performances and United’s progress, he continues to be central to their plans.

The 29-year-old is under contract at Manchester United and remains a regular starter, while also continuing to play a major role for Portugal.

For now, there is no indication that Fernandes is pushing for a move, and the Real Madrid rumour has been dismissed as fake.
