Morocco are sticking with head coach Walid Regragui as the country’s push towards the 2026 World Cup gets under way.
The Moroccan Football Federation has decided to continue with Regragui, despite the criticism that followed the Africa Cup of Nations. Morocco went into that tournament as one of the favourites, but were knocked out in the round of 16 by South Africa.
With qualification for the 2026 World Cup now the main focus, the federation is keeping faith in the coach who led Morocco to a historic fourth-place finish at the 2022 World Cup in Qatar.
The decision means Regragui will remain in charge for the next stage of the national team’s programme, as Morocco begin their route towards the World Cup in the United States, Canada and Mexico.
The federation’s stance also sends a clear message of stability, with Regragui continuing to work on the squad as Morocco aim to build on recent success and deliver again on the global stage.
