Roberto Martinez says Ronaldo career could go on and on

Cristiano Ronaldo celebrates in Portugal's red kit, showcasing his trademark joy after a match during the UEFA qualifiers.

Cristiano Ronaldo’s career could “go on and on and on”, according to Portugal head coach Roberto Martinez, who has insisted there is still no sign of an immediate end in sight for the five-time Ballon d’Or winner.

Ronaldo, now 39, continues to play for Al Nassr in Saudi Arabia and remains central to Portugal’s plans. With retirement questions never far away at this stage of his career, Martinez has explained why he believes the forward can keep extending his time at the top.

Speaking about Ronaldo’s longevity, Martinez pointed to the striker’s professionalism and the way he looks after himself, suggesting those qualities are key reasons he can keep performing at a high level for both club and country. The Portugal boss said Ronaldo’s playing career could go “on and on and on”.

Martinez has also made it clear that Portugal’s focus is on what Ronaldo produces on the pitch, not on his age, with the veteran still showing the same hunger to compete and contribute in big moments.

For now, there has been no confirmed timeline from Ronaldo on when he intends to retire, and Martinez’s comments only add to the feeling that Portugal’s captain could continue for longer than many expect.
