Mohamed Abu Trika has come out in defence of Tunisia head coach Faouzi Benzarti’s assistant, Jalel Tarabulsis, amid the ongoing debate around the national team and its recent struggles.
Speaking on television, Abu Trika rejected the criticism directed at Tarabulsis, stressing that focusing on one member of the staff misses the bigger picture. He said the problems facing Tunisian football go beyond the bench and cannot be fixed by simply changing personnel.
In his comments, Abu Trika pointed to the wider crisis within the Tunisia setup, insisting that even a world-class coach would not be able to solve it alone. “Tunisia’s crisis will not be solved by Guardiola,” he said, underlining that the situation needs deeper solutions than replacing coaches or assistants.
Abu Trika also defended Tarabulsis’ professional record and called for a calmer assessment of the team’s issues, rather than turning the debate into attacks on individuals.
The former Al Ahly and Egypt star’s remarks come as Tunisia face growing pressure from supporters and media, with discussions intensifying over the direction of the national team and the decisions being made behind the scenes.
