Algerian media wrongly claim Morocco AFCON buses are Spanish

Angola's team bus, decorated in red and green with the Angola logo and CAF Africa Cup of Nations branding, is being cleaned by staff.

Some Algerian media outlets have sparked ridicule after claiming that the buses being used for the Africa Cup of Nations in Morocco are Spanish and will be returned once the tournament ends.

The reports alleged that Morocco brought in the vehicles from Spain specifically for the competition, and that they are only a temporary solution until the final match is played.

However, the information circulating is incorrect. The buses are part of Morocco’s own fleet and were secured as part of the country’s preparations to host AFCON, in line with the transport plan put in place for the tournament.

The claim about “returning them after the البطولة” has been widely mocked online, with many fans pointing to the fact that Morocco has long invested in transport infrastructure and event logistics for major sporting events.

The controversy comes as Morocco continues its organisational work for AFCON, with transport and mobility among the key elements under the spotlight throughout the competition.
