Arteta calls Tottenham sacking of Thomas Frank very sad news

Mikel Arteta and Thomas Frank, coaches of Arsenal and Brentford respectively, express concern over the sacking of Frank by Tottenham.

Mikel Arteta has described Tottenham’s decision to sack Thomas Frank as “very sad news”, as the Arsenal manager paid tribute to his north London rival and called him an “excellent coach and extraordinary man”.

Arteta was asked about Frank after it was confirmed that Tottenham had moved on from the Danish boss, bringing an abrupt end to his spell in charge.

The Arsenal head coach made clear he felt for Frank on a personal level, even with the pair working on opposite sides of one of the Premier League’s biggest rivalries.

“Very sad news,” Arteta said, before adding that Frank is an “excellent coach and extraordinary man.”

Arteta also pointed to the impact Frank has made in English football, highlighting the work he has done and the respect he has earned during his time in the Premier League.

Tottenham’s decision means they will now be looking for a new manager, while Arsenal continue their preparations under Arteta ahead of the new season.
