In a stunning development ahead of their crucial CAF Champions League fixture, Algerian champions CR Belouizdad have opened negotiations with South African coaching maestro Pitso Mosimane. The club’s management is actively pursuing what local media are dubbing the “deal of the century” to secure Mosimane’s services.
The news comes just days before Belouizdad is set to face Egyptian giants Zamalek in a pivotal Group D match on Friday, March 1st. Current coach Marcos Paqueta finds his position under intense scrutiny following a string of disappointing results, including a recent league defeat.
According to reliable sources close to the negotiations, Belouizdad’s officials have already held initial talks with Mosimane’s representatives. The discussions are described as “serious and advanced,” focusing on the financial terms of a potential contract and the project vision for the club.
Pitso Mosimane is currently a free agent after leaving United Arab Emirates side Al Wahda in November 2023. His illustrious resume, which includes winning the CAF Champions League title with both Mamelodi Sundowns and Al Ahly, makes him a highly coveted target for clubs across the continent.
The timing of these talks is particularly sensitive, casting a large shadow over the upcoming Zamalek clash. All focus is now on whether the team can block out the noise and secure a vital result under Paqueta’s leadership, or if a new era with Mosimane is imminent.
