The Confederation of African Football (CAF) has issued a strongly worded statement following crowd violence involving Egypt’s Al Ahly supporters during the club’s match against Morocco’s AS FAR (Royal Army).
CAF said it is monitoring the incidents that took place in the stands and confirmed that the case has been referred to the relevant CAF bodies in line with its disciplinary procedures.
In its statement, CAF stressed its firm stance against any acts of violence and disorder inside stadiums, underlining that such behaviour goes against the values of the game and the competition.
The governing body added that it will not hesitate to take the necessary measures once the investigation is completed and all reports related to the incidents have been reviewed.
