Donovan and Howard praise Inter Miami retool advantage

Lionel Messi, in a pink Inter Miami kit, gazes intently as a vibrant crowd fills the background during a match.

Landon Donovan and Tim Howard believe Inter Miami’s rebuild has put the club in an enviable position around MLS, praising the combination of star power, smart roster work and the draw of South Florida.

Speaking about Miami’s rapid rise, Donovan said the club’s ability to reshape its squad while continuing to attract elite names is something other teams will look at with frustration.

“The rest of the league has to be furious,” Donovan said, pointing to the advantages Miami can offer when it comes to recruiting and retooling compared to many other markets.

Howard echoed that view, highlighting how Miami’s location and lifestyle can help the club bring in players that might be harder to lure elsewhere in the league. He also noted that the club’s growing profile has added momentum to the project, making the next move easier than the last.

The former USMNT stars stressed that the mix of big-name talent and a favorable destination has given Inter Miami a clear edge as it adjusts its roster, with the club able to refresh key positions without losing its headline appeal.

Donovan and Howard’s comments come as Miami continues to be viewed as one of the league’s most attractive landing spots, with their rebuild process standing out as a model — and a frustration — for the rest of MLS.
