Ethan Nwaneri has revealed that Bukayo Saka encouraged him to join Marseille as the Arsenal youngster arrived in France to complete a loan move.
The 17-year-old has travelled to Marseille to finalise the switch, with the deal expected to be confirmed once the remaining formalities are completed.
Nwaneri said Saka played a key role in his decision, explaining that the England winger told him it would be a good move for his development and urged him to take the opportunity. The teenager has been highly rated at Arsenal and sees regular senior football as the next step in his progress.
The move will give Nwaneri the chance to test himself in Ligue 1 and gain experience in a demanding environment, with Marseille set to offer him a new stage as he continues his rise.
Nwaneri’s trip to France underlines that the loan is now at an advanced stage, with the player closing in on a temporary departure from the Emirates Stadium.
