Fouzi Lekjaa escalates row with CAF, moves to attack

Two officials engage in conversation at a formal event, showcasing a mix of navy suits and FIFA credentials, highlighting football governance.

Egyptian broadcaster Ahmed Shobeir has sparked fresh debate after revealing that Fouzi Lekjaa has decided to “cut the last thread” with the Confederation of African Football (CAF) and shift from calm dialogue to a direct offensive approach.

Shobeir said Lekjaa is no longer willing to keep relations at a minimum level with CAF, and that the Moroccan official is now set to confront the confederation more openly in the coming period.

According to Shobeir, this change in stance comes after a series of files and disagreements that have built up over time, pushing Lekjaa to move from restraint to escalation.

The Egyptian media figure added that Lekjaa’s new position will be reflected through stronger steps and clearer messages inside CAF circles, in a development that could raise the level of tension between the two sides.

Shobeir’s comments were presented as a revealed detail about Lekjaa’s current approach, as he described the Moroccan official as having moved from attempting to contain the situation to taking the initiative and going on the attack.
