Gary Lineker says Nottingham Forest’s players should have confronted owner Evangelos Marinakis after his furious on-pitch reaction to the club’s latest Premier League setback.

Marinakis marched onto the field at full-time and was seen remonstrating with head coach Nuno Espirito Santo, as Forest once again found themselves dragged deeper into trouble.

Speaking about the incident, Lineker said the playing squad should have stepped in, claiming they ought to have delivered an X-rated message to the Forest owner as tempers boiled over.

The former England striker pointed to the pressure around the club and suggested the moment reflected wider issues, with Forest still fighting to secure their top-flight status.

Lineker’s comments came as he discussed the growing tension at several Premier League clubs, with the weekend also marked by Everton’s decision to sack Sean Dyche.

He questioned the timing of that call and highlighted how quickly managers can be removed, even when teams are battling through difficult spells.

The episode at the City Ground, and Dyche’s dismissal, underlined the volatility at the bottom end of the table, where results and emotions are running high as the season heads towards its closing stages.
