Hull City have confirmed that arrests were made after discriminatory chanting was reported during their FA Cup defeat to Chelsea.
The incident took place at the MKM Stadium when Hull hosted Chelsea in the fourth round, a tie the Premier League side won 2-0.
Hull said the arrests followed an investigation into “discriminatory chanting” during the match, with the club working alongside Humberside Police to identify those responsible.
In a statement, Hull stressed they have a “zero-tolerance” approach to discrimination and made clear that anyone found to have taken part will face the strongest possible action.
The club also revealed that stadium and CCTV footage was used as part of the process, and warned supporters that sanctions can include stadium bans as well as criminal prosecution.
Hull reiterated that discrimination has no place in football and urged anyone with information to report it, as the club and police continue their work following the Chelsea game.
