Jean-Philippe Mateta was left out of Crystal Palace’s squad for the Premier League match against Nottingham Forest after manager Oliver Glasner admitted the striker was “not in the right place” to be involved.

Mateta’s absence came as uncertainty continues around his future at Selhurst Park, with the forward seeking an exit from the club.

Glasner explained the decision before the game, saying Mateta was not ready mentally to play. “He’s not in the right place,” the Palace boss said, as the club dealt with the situation surrounding the player.

The development adds to the growing doubt over whether Mateta will remain at Palace, with his desire to leave now clear after he was omitted for the trip to face Forest.
