Jeremie Frimpong forced off injured again vs Qarabag

Jeremie Frimpong suffered another injury setback on Thursday night as the Liverpool defender was forced off during his side’s Champions League clash with Qarabag.

Frimpong, who has endured a stop-start spell on Merseyside, went down in the first half and required treatment on the pitch before it became clear he could not continue. Liverpool’s medical staff signalled for a change, and the full-back was replaced as Arne Slot was left with another fitness concern.

The incident came as Liverpool were trying to settle into the contest, with Frimpong looking to push high on the right and offer an outlet in the final third. But after pulling up and clutching at his leg, he was unable to shake off the problem and eventually made way.

It is the latest blow for the Netherlands international, who has seen injuries disrupt his rhythm and limit his impact. Frimpong has been managed carefully in recent weeks, yet Thursday’s substitution again underlined the issues Liverpool have faced in keeping him available.

Liverpool will now wait for further assessment to determine the extent of the injury, with Frimpong set to be checked in the coming days. The club has not confirmed how long he could be sidelined, but his early exit against Qarabag will be a worry as Liverpool continue their Champions League campaign.
