Juventus directors Giorgio Chiellini and Damien Comolli have been handed suspensions and fines following a tunnel confrontation with a referee after the club’s controversial defeat to Inter.
The confirmed decision means both men will be barred from carrying out official duties on matchdays for the length of their respective bans, with financial penalties also imposed.
The incident took place immediately after the final whistle, when emotions were still high following the loss to Inter. In the tunnel area, Chiellini and Comolli became involved in an argument with the match official, with the dispute later reviewed by the authorities.
Disciplinary bodies assessed reports from the game and issued sanctions, concluding that the behaviour warranted both suspensions and fines.
The punishments add to the fallout from a game that had already drawn attention due to the controversial nature of the result, with Juventus left frustrated and the post-match situation escalating away from the pitch.
Juventus will now have to operate without Chiellini and Comolli in their official matchday roles for the period of the ban, as the club responds to the latest development stemming from the defeat to Inter.
