Barcelona moved further clear of Real Madrid at the top of La Liga as they beat Elche, with Lamine Yamal producing a standout display and Marcus Rashford continuing his scoring run.
From the first whistle, the Catalans set the tempo and pinned Elche back, moving the ball quickly and creating chances down both flanks. Yamal was at the heart of most of the early danger, driving at defenders and forcing Elche to retreat deeper and deeper.
The pressure eventually told as Barcelona took the lead, and the visitors struggled to find a way out. Elche had brief spells where they tried to break forward, but Barcelona’s control in midfield kept them at arm’s length and allowed the home side to keep building attacks in waves.
Yamal continued to “run riot”, stretching the game and opening space for runners around him. His directness and decision-making stood out, and he repeatedly pulled Elche’s back line out of shape as Barcelona looked for a second.
That cushion arrived as Rashford got on the scoresheet again, adding to Barcelona’s advantage and underlining his impact. The forward stayed sharp in the box and finished clinically to leave Elche with a mountain to climb.
In the second half, Barcelona managed the game with maturity, keeping possession for long spells and limiting Elche to isolated moments. Even as the pace dipped, Yamal remained a constant threat whenever he received the ball, while Rashford’s movement continued to worry the defence.
The result extends Barcelona’s lead over Real Madrid and keeps their momentum going in the title race, with Yamal’s electric performance and another Rashford goal the key talking points from a dominant night against Elche.
