Liverpool defender Jeremy Jacquet suffers shoulder injury

Jeremy Jacquet, wearing a black football kit with orange accents, looks upwards in concentration during a match for his team.

Liverpool’s new defender Jeremy Jacquet was forced off with what looked a painful shoulder injury, just as he prepares to complete a £60 million move to Anfield.

Jacquet went down holding his shoulder and needed treatment on the pitch before being helped off. He appeared in clear discomfort as he made his way to the touchline, with the injury immediately raising concern given the timing.

The setback comes with Jacquet expected to finalise his switch to Liverpool, a deal understood to be worth £60m. The defender had been on the verge of linking up with Arne Slot’s squad when the incident occurred.

There has been no official update on the severity of the problem, and it remains to be seen whether the injury will affect his immediate availability once the transfer is completed.

Liverpool supporters will now wait for further news, with Jacquet’s shoulder issue casting a shadow over what is set to be one of the club’s major additions ahead of the new season.
