Malik Tillman shines as Weah, Pepi and Dest exit UCL

Malik Tillman celebrates in a Juventus kit, flanked by players from Ajax, Marseille, and PSV Eindhoven, set against a vibrant purple background.

Malik Tillman was the standout American in Europe as the Champions League playoff round came to a close, delivering a strong display for PSV while fellow U.S. internationals Tim Weah, Ricardo Pepi and Sergino Dest saw their European hopes end.

Tillman helped PSV come through a dramatic tie, stepping up in a big moment as the Dutch side secured its place in the next round. The midfielder’s quality in the final third and his ability to influence the game at key times again underlined why he has become such an important player for PSV this season.

It was a different story for Weah and Juventus, who were knocked out over two legs. Weah featured as Juve tried to turn the tie in their favor, but the Italian side could not do enough to keep their Champions League campaign alive.

Pepi’s PSV teammate Dest also ended the week on the wrong side of the Champions League story. Dest’s absence remained a factor, with the U.S. full-back still unavailable as he continues his recovery, leaving PSV to navigate the decisive match without him.

Across the playoff action, the contrast was clear: Tillman was the American who left his mark, while Weah, Pepi and Dest were left to look ahead to what comes next after their Champions League exits.
