Manchester City midfielder Rodri has been charged by the Football Association after his post-match comments about refereeing were deemed to have crossed the line.
The Spain international, who won the Ballon d’Or, is accused of breaching FA rules following remarks in which he said decisions were “not fair”. The comments were made during his media duties after a game, with the FA taking issue with the language used toward match officials.
If the charge is upheld, Rodri could face a suspension, leaving City at risk of being without a key player for an important spell of the season. The midfielder is now set to go through the disciplinary process as the case moves forward.
The FA has confirmed the charge, with Rodri given a deadline to respond. City have not made any official comment on the matter.
