Manchester United duo mock Morocco's AFCON hosting

Manchester United teammates Andre Onana and Sofyan Amrabat have been caught on camera appearing to mock Morocco’s successful bid to host the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations.

A video clip circulating on social media shows the pair in a light-hearted exchange. Amrabat, the Moroccan international, can be seen smiling and shaking his head while Onana, the Cameroonian goalkeeper, gestures and speaks to him.

Reports indicate Onana’s comments were in reference to Morocco being awarded the hosting rights for AFCON 2025. The Confederation of African Football (CAF) officially confirmed Morocco as hosts for the tournament on September 27, 2023.

The incident, which took place at the club’s Carrington training ground, has drawn attention due to the players’ national team affiliations. Amrabat is a key figure for Morocco, while Onana represents Cameroon, who were originally scheduled to host the 2019 edition before being stripped of the rights.

Morocco’s hosting of the 2025 finals marks a return for the tournament, which was initially set for June-July 2025. However, FIFA’s new Club World Cup schedule for summer 2025 has forced a significant change. CAF President Patrice Motsepe has confirmed the tournament will now be held in the summer of 2026.

Neither player nor Manchester United have issued an official statement regarding the training ground video at this time.
