Morocco’s Football Federation has decided to appeal the sanctions issued by the Confederation of African Football (CAF), following what it described as chaotic scenes during the Africa Cup of Nations final in Senegal.

The move was confirmed after federation president Fouzi Lekjaa opted to take the case to appeal, rejecting what officials see as “softened” punishments that do not reflect the seriousness of what took place on the night of the final.

Moroccan officials believe the measures announced by CAF fall short and fail to address the disorder that marked the closing stages of the tournament, prompting the federation to escalate the matter through official channels.

The decision comes as the federation continues to push for accountability over the events surrounding the final, insisting that the incidents in Senegal cannot be treated lightly and must be dealt with firmly to protect the integrity of African football.
