Morocco has been officially selected to host the 2028 Amputee Football World Cup, a major event for athletes with limb differences. The announcement was made by the Moroccan Royal Football Federation following a decision by the World Amputee Football Federation (WAFF).
The tournament is scheduled to take place in the cities of Salé and Rabat. This marks the first time the Amputee Football World Cup will be held on the African continent, a significant milestone for the sport’s global development.
Preparations for the event are already underway. The Moroccan federation has confirmed it will form a national amputee football team to represent the host nation. The team’s training camp is set to begin in July of this year, giving the squad two years to prepare for the competition on home soil.
The 2028 World Cup will feature 24 national teams competing for the title. Morocco’s successful bid underscores the country’s growing commitment to hosting international sporting events and promoting inclusive sports.
