CAF president Patrice Motsepe has vowed to take firm action and change regulations after the chaotic scenes that followed the Africa Cup of Nations final.

The closing minutes of the match and the period after the final whistle were marked by confusion, with a series of incidents that prompted CAF to step in and review what happened.

Motsepe confirmed that the federation will move to amend its rules to prevent a repeat of the disorder, stressing that CAF will not accept situations that damage the image of African football.

He added that what took place in the AFCON final will be dealt with, and that decisions will be made based on official reviews, with the aim of ensuring better control and clearer procedures in the future.

Motsepe’s comments come as CAF prepares to evaluate the incidents from the final, while underlining that tougher measures and updated regulations are now on the agenda.
