Neal Maupay was caught on camera putting a Sevilla staff member in a headlock as the former Brighton & Hove Albion striker continued settling in at his new club.
The incident happened in a light-hearted moment at Sevilla’s training ground, with Maupay jokingly grabbing the member of staff as he walked past. The clip quickly spread online after being shared on the club’s channels.
Maupay’s arrival in Spain has been followed closely, partly because of his reputation for winding up opponents and his history of trolling on social media. In the past, the French forward became known for posting and interacting online in ways that regularly drew attention during his time in the Premier League.
That backstory also fed into another moment around his move, with it revealed that Maupay had demanded to see Sevilla’s social media admin. The request was made in reference to his previous online behaviour and the attention it has brought him.
Sevilla have been active in documenting Maupay’s first days at the club, with the striker appearing relaxed and in good spirits as he starts his latest chapter in La Liga.
