Real Madrid are weighing up a blockbuster move for Liverpool midfielder Alexis Mac Allister, with a potential swap deal being discussed as the Spanish giants look to reshape their midfield this summer.
Mac Allister has been one of Liverpool’s standout performers and is viewed inside the club as a long-term cornerstone. However, Madrid are understood to be monitoring the situation closely and have explored the idea of pairing a large cash offer with a player going the other way in an attempt to bring the Argentina international to the Bernabéu.
The outline being considered would see Madrid put a fee in the region of £140 million on the table, while also offering a first-team name as part of negotiations. Liverpool are not actively looking to sell and would be expected to demand a huge package for a player who has quickly become central to their plans.
Still, Madrid’s interest is said to be serious. With Toni Kroos retired and Luka Modrić nearing the end of his time at the top level, Madrid are planning the next phase of their midfield rebuild. Mac Allister’s mix of control, work rate and end product has made him an attractive target, even with Jude Bellingham, Eduardo Camavinga, Federico Valverde and Aurélien Tchouaméni already in the squad.
In the Premier League, Chelsea are also pushing hard in the market and are believed to be trying to beat Manchester United to the signing of Everton defender Jarrad Branthwaite. United have held a long-standing interest in the centre-back and have discussed a deal, but Chelsea are now reported to have made contact and are ready to test Everton’s resolve.
Branthwaite, 21, enjoyed an impressive season at Goodison Park and has drawn attention for his calm defending and threat from set pieces. Everton are under pressure to balance the books, but they are also reluctant to lose one of their most valuable assets unless their asking price is met. A bidding war could develop quickly if both clubs decide to move forward.
Elsewhere, Liverpool are being linked with a possible reshuffle of their own as they assess offers and potential exits. With a new era taking shape at Anfield, the club’s approach is expected to balance big-name recruitment with smart squad management, meaning any major approach for a key player like Mac Allister would be met with a firm response.
For now, Madrid’s idea remains at the exploratory stage, but the numbers being talked about underline the scale of their ambition. If the Spanish champions decide to turn the concept into a formal bid, Liverpool would be faced with a huge decision—especially if a swap proposal includes a player who fits their needs.
